Hola!
Coach Alicia here with tips on my favorite exercises.
The first exercise really speaks to me as a Caribbean Girl at heart. Where I’m from, dancing and music is part of the fabric of our culture.
The thing about exercising is that people always forget that exercise should be fun! Yes, it is work and dedication, but you should enjoy the activity as well.
Dancing is not just for entertainment, but it is a great way to burn calories and exercise.
My first favorite exercise is Zumba.
Dancing to music to music that you love is always a great thing. Even if you don’t dance to the type of music that Zumba includes, it’s an accomplishment just to step out of your comfort zone. The music of Zumba is a cultural adventure. It mixes Salsa, Afro Latin rhythms, Reggae, Reggaeton, Bachata, etc. It is culturally diverse music with some Pop and R&B mixed in! Zumba exercise is just another way to get you to dance. It’s a combination of moves and grooves to get you going and you’re burning calories in the process.
If you’re not a member of a gym, you can always find Zumba videos on Youtube.com to start your journey to one of the best workouts there is.
Yoga, the good-for-you, calming workout!
My next favorite exercise is Yoga.
Yoga has been around for centuries and has various benefits and advantages for your health. Benefits ranging from physical, mental and emotional. The best part of Yoga for me is the end of the Yoga practice called Shavasana. That’s the Meditation part of it. You get to relax, think about nothing and just focus on yourself. Yoga is one of the best ways to practice Self-care. Throughout the session, you shut out the outside world, your To-do list and just focus on the breathing and the Yoga moves.
Some of the benefits of Yoga are:
lowered blood pressure
less anxiety

In addition to Dr. Weil, the American Osteopathic Association also recommends Yoga to be part of your daily living. You can read about it HERE. Osteopathic medicine gets to the root of it all.

Namaste!
